Day of the African Child 2017
This day has been set aside by the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC) in remembrance of the hundreds of school children that were killed during the Soweto Uprising on the 16th of June 1976.
  • Event ScheduleJun 16, 2017 at 09:00 AM to Jun 16, 2017 at 6:00 PM
  • LocationKubwa, Abuja
Price:from ₦0

During this day, about ten thousand black school children marched in protest against the poor quality of their education and demanding their right to be taught in their own language. Therefore, the day is used to raise awareness on issues that violate the rights of an African child.
In the line with this year’s theme: “The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development for Children in Africa: Accelerating protection, empowerment and equal opportunity”, CFHI would be marking this day with an event for primary and secondary school students around the Kubwa area. Selected students from schools would participate in Quiz competitions; present dramas, poems and songs; and write Essays and create Art works with the theme as the central focus.
