Centre for Family Health Initiative (CFHI) celebrated #WorldHealthDay2021 at the Chief’s Palace in Dape Community, Abuja FCT. The topic of discussion was in line with WHD’21 theme, “Building a fairer, healthier world”.

CFHI team on Thursday, 18th March 2021, visited Umuonyeali Community Secondary School in Ihitte Mbieri LGA of Imo State to sensitize the students on Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) and the importance of forming a health club.

On Monday 8, March 2021, Centre for Family Health Initiative hosted three distinguished panelists; Prof. Ladi Hamalai (MFR), Jakadiya Mubi Emirate and Former Director General National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies National Assembly, Ms. Babafunke Fagbemi, The Executive Director, Centre for Communication and Social Impact (CCSI) and Imabong Sanusi-Ladipo, The Executive Director, Women Trafficking & Child Labour Eradication Foundation (WOTCLEF) on a tweetchat on the topic: Women’s full participation in Leadership – A way to achieving sustainable development and gender equality in commemoration of International Women’s Day (IWD).

Also, CFHI visited Wumba community-Abuja to sensitize over 50 women on the effects of COVID19 and empower them with requisite skill for the production of hand sanitizer.

The Fededral Ministry of Health (FMoH) and Health Strategy and Delivery Foundation (HSDF) paid a supervisory visit to Centre for Family Health Initiative (CFHI)  state office Owerri. The visit was aimed at monitoring the progress of the Diabetes Awareness and Care (DAC) project and also appreciate the successes and recommend ways of scaling up DAC services in the state.

CFHI marked World Aids Day at Mabushi-Abuja and at Mission Junction, Emekuku, Imo state by carrying out HIV/AIDS community sensitization, counselling and testing, with over 200 people knowing their status through the simple saliva-based testing.

CFHI commemorated the International Children’s day by organizing an Essay competition among students from different schools. The winner, Miss Chisom Asogwa of Junior Secondary School Kubwa topped the lists of over 50 students who participated.

CFHI  commemorated World Toilet Day at Saburi Community, Abuja. Over 55 community members were sensitized to the effects of open defecation, poor hygiene, the need to promote climate action and embrace proper waste disposal methods.

The Imo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Damaris Osunkwo in collaboration with CFHI and Health Strategy and Delivery Foundation (HSDF) Nigeria commemorated World Diabetes Day 2020 in Owerri, Imo State, through community rally, sensitization and testing.

CFHI celebrates World Food Day 2020 with the people of Dape community, Abuja. Not only were the participants sensitized to the importance of good nutrition, over 60 were given food items.
